Speaking & Teaching
- Loraena is available for teaching and speaking at women’s retreats or events.
- She is committed to the complete trustworthiness and authority of the Scriptures and the narrative perspective provided by redemptive-historical theology, meaning the overall story arc of scripture and God’s work in human lives unfolds historically and points to the redemptive work of Jesus.
- This informs her teaching as she seeks to show how each passage or story connects to our future of complete restoration and also to the Spirit’s presence bringing transformation and healing in the here and now (already/not yet).
- She has experience teaching Romans, Ephesians, James, Judges, Amos, Haggai, and various Psalms. Topically, she has taught on prayer, healing and hope for those who have been hurt, and on parenting children with disabilities and/or from hard places.

“It helps to realize that the Bible is not primarily a book of information about God but of formation of the heart. It is not merely a book to be analyzed, scrutinized, and discussed, but a book to nurture, unify, and serve as a constant source of contemplation. We must struggle constantly against the temptation to read the Bible instrumentally as a book full of good stories and illustrations that can help is make our point in sermons, lectures, papers, and articles. The Bible does not speak to us as long as we want to use it. As long as we deal with the word of God as an item with which we can do many useful things, we don’t really read the Bible or let it read us. Only when we are willing to hear the written word as a word for us can the Living Word disclose himself and penetrate into the center of our heart.” – Henri Nouwen
